We are returning to Broughton High School for the first event of the season, the Lothian Junior Congress. It means that we are back to our pre-covid capacity plus we will once again have the cafe run by the The Broughton Association.
After that it is back to St George’s for the Scottish Girls, which Chess Scotland have asked us to host again after the success of last year’s tournament when we had more entrants since before any of the players competing last year were born. St George’s has strong links with chess, being founded by Sarah Siddons-Mair who was also a founding member of the very successful Edinburgh Ladies Chess Club.
We’re once again at Broughton for the UK Chess Challenge Megafinal at the end of March and are very excited that those players who qualify from the Megafinal for the Gigafinal will be able to compete in that stage here in Edinburgh at the end of June at the first ever Scottish Gigafinal. Like last year, you do not need to qualify from a school or club tournament to play in the Megafinal - it is open to everyone of school age.
Details of all these tournaments are on our events page. Please enter early to ensure you get a space, especially for the Megafinal which often sells out.
